HB275 lets Northport's municipal court charge a warrant recall fee of up to $100 to recall certain warrants, with the money going to the city's Corrections Fund.
If passed, a municipal judge or magistrate in the City of Northport may assess a warrant recall fee up to $100 when recalling a failure to appear or failure to comply warrant arising from a municipal offense. The recall is at the judge's or magistrate's discretion and is not required for warrants that have already been issued. The fee must be paid by the defendant at the time of recall, and all collected fees go into the City of Northport Corrections Fund for allocation under state law. The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month after it is enacted and approved by the Governor.
