HB121 extends whistleblower protections to county and municipal employees, barring retaliation when they report violations to a public body.
It adds local government employees to the group protected from retaliation by their supervisors. It prohibits supervisors from firing, demoting, transferring, or taking any adverse action against an employee for reporting a violation to a public body (reports can be made under oath or as an affidavit). The protections take effect on October 1, 2024.
