Rick Neighbors
General Information
The son of a sharecropper in North Carolina, Rick was raised knowing how to work long hours seven days a week. One day as I listened to a debate about our involvement in Vietnam on the radio and heard them speak about how the communists capturing South Vietnam could lead to other countries and eventually the United States. That made me think hard about how that would destroy our democracy, our way of life, and our home. I felt compelled to do my duty because I was raised not to shrink from my responsibilities. I volunteered to serve then and I’m volunteering now.
