Title
Mayor, power to make appointments, specified, Sec. 11-43-81 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, a mayor, as chief executive officer of a city or town, may appoint all officers whose appointment is not otherwise provided by law. The Attorney General has ruled that if a city council exercises its powers to appoint officers of the city or town, the appointment would be as "otherwise provided by law." This bill would specify that a mayor would appoint officers unless otherwise provided by state law.
