Title: Strengthen Alabama Homes Program, provide that certain bids and grants awarded under the program are public records under the federal Freedom of Information Act, Sec. 27-31E-3 am'd.
Description: Under existing law, the Strengthen Alabama Homes Program, within the Department of Insurance, was created to financially aid homeowners and certain nonprofit entities in retrofitting insurable property to resist future loss due to hurricane or other catastrophic windstorm events.
This bill would provide that all contractor bids received and grants of public funds awarded under the Strengthen Alabama Homes Program are public records under the federal Freedom of Information Act.
