Title
School of Cyber Technology and Engineering, granted same soverign immunity and participation in Educators Liability Trust Fund as provided for other public K-12 schools, board of education, administrators, and staff, Secs. 16-28A-6, added; Secs. 16-22-4.1, 36-1-12 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, local boards of education, administrators, teachers, and staff are granted limited immunity for their actions in maintaining safe classrooms and certain public education employees are granted sovereign immunity from civil liability pursuant to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, when performing certain work-related duties. Additionally, the Educators Liability Trust Fund is a program of self-insurance that provides liability coverage for those individuals for claims made against them in the performance of their work-related duties

This bill would provide the same limited and sovereign immunity, and ability to participate in the Educators Liability Trust Fund, to the Board of Trustees of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering and the administrative staff, teachers, and employees of that school

Relating to public K-12 education; to amend Sections 16-22-4.1 and 36-1-12, Code of Alabama 1975, and add Section 16-28A-6 to the Code of Alabama 1975; to grant the same limited and sovereign immunity, and ability to participate in the Educators Liability Trust Fund, provided for local boards of education, administrators, teachers, and staff to the Board of Trustees of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering and the administrative staff, teachers, and employees of that school.
