Title

Plumbers and gas fitters, journeyman plumber replaced with a residential plumber as a member of the board, expand examination options for a journeyman plumber or gas fitter, definitions, Secs. 34-37-1, 34-37-3, 34-37-6, 34-37-8, 34-37-12 am'd.

Description

Under existing law, the State of Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board is authorized to examine, certify, and regulate plumbers, gas fitters, and medical gas piping fitters on a statewide basis.

This bill would add definitions for residential dwelling and residential jobsite; would add a master plumber and a master gas fitter as members of the board; would allow the issuance of emergency certificates of endorsement during a declared state of emergency; would allow the board to adopt continuing education requirements; would expand examination options for a journeyman plumber or gas fitter; would add a provision governing apprentices to journeyman/master ratios; would clarify the board's disciplinary authority; and would make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update the existing code language to current style.
