Room 206 at 13:30:00

HB503 would ban a city's mayor from serving on the city board of education.
If enacted, no mayor may be a member of the city board of education. The board would be made up of five city residents who are not the mayor or city council/commission members (seven members in Class 4 cities with a mayor-council form of government). Board members must meet existing qualifications (good moral character, a high school diploma or equivalent, not employed by the board, not serving on a private school board, not listed on sex offender registries, and not convicted of a felony).
